Cinema Du Reel International Documentary Film Festival
NUCLEAR NATION II is now invited to the International Competition of this festival at Centre Pompidou, Paris. They had three screenings and the result of the competition will be announced on March 29th.
The 1st screening (French Premiere!) was full-house and the Q&A heated up. Some said this film should be shown all over France, the world #1 nuclear nation! Others discussed what French people can learn from lessons from Fukushima and also on the final disposal site of nuclear waste.
The audience seemed impressed and convinced that what has been lost in Fukushima is irreversible and impossible to compensate by reparation.
There will be two more screenings on March 27th and 28th. Please see this post for more details.

Edinburgh IFF Report
“Nuclear Nation” was screened at Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Moderated by Chris Fujiwara, artistic director of the festival, Q&A session and discussion with me and the audience were very intense. The topic includes: today’s dilemma of Fukushima refugees, moral hazard of using nuclear power, Japanese history of atomic energy and bombs, media ethics, etc.
Prior to the screening “Fukushima & Documentary,” a discussion event was held at St. John’s church.
I talked about the human cost of this nuclear crisis with Toshi Fujiwara, director of “No Man’s Zone.”
